Credits are the official currency of the multiverse and regulated by the Universal Banking Guild branches of the different realities. It is defined as the value needed to feed one person for one day on average. Regular market studies are conducted to ensure this parameter always reflects current economic conditions. As such, one standard unit of food has a fixed value of 10cr.

The amount in circulation is adjusted to the value needed to feed every inhabitant daily times two hundred, and adjusted through a cost of living tax, where those exceeding the benchmark are taxed and those below receive monetary support.

While the concept was born out of historic experiences and has been quite successful, it does not sit well with all governments. Some feel having their own strong currency would aid their political and territorial ambitions. However, since it is the only currency currently in official use and the UBG has an unlimited supply, nobody has yet dared to challenge them.
