A galaxy is a group of systems in a spiral pattern. Individual galaxies are far apart and it is nearly impossible travel between them without the use of a wormhole wormhole.
Most of us live in the large primary galaxy, usually named "Alpha". It is surrounded by the smaller so-called "buffer galaxies". At the edge of the universe are the medium sized "outer galaxies", and in between many tiny ones we refer to as "the halo".
Each Galaxy was named with Greek letters, from Alpha, Beta... all the way to Delta Tau. However, like most things, they can be named for 30 Coins.
