The starmap is a graphic display of the Atmoburn universe. You can use it to see the layout of systems and planets on a small scale, so this is the easiest way to send fleets between nearby systems and planets.
You can pan the map with the left mouse button or use WASD. Hovering over an item's image will show you more information and options related to it. Clicking on an items name will open its corresponding info page.
You can select a fleet from the quicklinks, by clicking its name, or it may already be selected if you opened the map from the fleet navigation page. If you then click a rally point, the map will pan there and the fleet you clicked can be sent to any locations near it, if they are in range. If you click a different fleet in quicklinks, the map will pan to location of that new fleet.
Hovering over potential destinations will show additional information related to that fleet, and when it's not already on a mission, offer transfer and exploration orders, but not colonize missions. The TAB key will select the next available explorer fleet.
The blue circle around the fleet is its scanner range, the green one its travel range.
From the map, it isn't possible to send a fleet to specific coordinates, but if you define a specific location in your Rally Points it will show up in yellow in that exact position on the map.
If the foreign fleet is displayed as "unknown" then only a selected fleet which is not on a mission or deployed in your Sensor Net can be sent to it, but if its name is displayed, you can send any fleet to it by hovering over it (not by clicking the name itself) and choosing a mission type, and then once in Fleet Command clicking "switch fleet" at the top.
Aswell as the simple "Transfer" which moves your fleet to the same point as the target, other mission types you can choose on the map with a selected fleet are: Reinforce own fleet or allied fleet that is allowing reinforcements, or (follow and) Assault enemy fleet. Note however, that when assaulting a fleet, it will only be followed if it's within Scanner range of the following fleet. Otherwise, your fleet will only fly to the target's current position and attempt to engage, regardless of its default Orders.

Other fleets
The blue movement vector of a nearby fleet not only tells you its direction. The length of the vector is the distance the fleet can cover in 10 days.If the foreign fleet is displayed as "unknown" then only a selected fleet which is not on a mission or deployed in your Sensor Net can be sent to it, but if its name is displayed, you can send any fleet to it by hovering over it (not by clicking the name itself) and choosing a mission type, and then once in Fleet Command clicking "switch fleet" at the top.
